As a Degree Wellness franchisee, am I allowed to provide any actual health care services?

- vi) The PC will employ and control the personnel who will provide the health related services required to be delivered at and through the Studio.
You may not provide any actual health care or any other professional services that require licensing or certification, nor will you supervise, direct, control or try to influence the exercise of professional and/or medical judgment, treatment protocols, employee decisions, advice, training, or relationships with patients, by the PC or any of its employees or agents.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Degree Wellness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees may not provide actual health care services themselves unless they are a licensed individual or entity (PC). The FDD outlines two potential business models: a standard franchise and a 'Studio Management Business.'
In states where non-licensed individuals cannot own or operate businesses providing healthcare services, Degree Wellness offers the 'Studio Management Business' model. In this model, the franchisee manages the studio but must contract with a 'PC' (one or more licensed individuals or a professional corporation) to deliver health care services. The PC employs and controls the personnel providing health-related services. The franchisee's role is to provide management and administrative support to the PC, ensuring compliance with the Degree Wellness system.
Even in states where a non-licensed person can own and operate a healthcare business, Degree Wellness may still offer the Studio Management Business franchise. Regardless of the model, the FDD explicitly states that franchisees cannot provide health care services requiring licensing or certification. They also cannot supervise, direct, control, or influence the professional judgment, treatment protocols, or employee decisions of the PC or its staff. The PC is responsible for all aspects of healthcare delivery, while the franchisee manages the business operations under the Degree Wellness system.
