When must a Crowne Plaza licensee complete technology purchases, including hardware, software, and communications capabilities?

According to Crowne Plaza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a licensee must acquire the specified Hardware, Software, and communications capabilities at least 120 days before the hotel opening date. This requirement ensures that the hotel has the necessary technology infrastructure in place before it begins operations. Additionally, the licensee must enter into Participation Agreements for Additional Required Services at least 120 days before the hotel opening date.

Furthermore, the licensee is responsible for preparing the site for the installation and operation of the hardware. This includes providing the required electrical connections, power outlets, air conditioning, patch panel, and local area network cable installation. If the site preparation is not completed to IHG's satisfaction in a timely manner, the licensee may be charged $2,600, which may be modified by IHG. Proper site preparation is essential for the hardware's performance, and no hardware will be installed until the site is adequately prepared.

Crowne Plaza may update the Minimum Configuration, requiring the licensee to purchase and install then-current approved Software and approved Hardware within 90 days (or a period specified by IHG in writing) of the update. The licensee is also responsible for decommissioning any hardware and software that is no longer approved, all at the licensee's expense. IHG may install a wide area network (WAN) and WAN Hardware for the hotel's use, with the licensee required to purchase broadband Internet access to establish the primary WAN link.
