What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Crowne Plaza Franchise Disclosure Document, licenses are granted for a specific site only. The license applies to the location specified in the agreement and no other location. Crowne Plaza does not typically grant licenses for exclusive areas or territories.
While exclusive territories are not typical, in special circumstances, Holiday may grant protected areas in which another Crowne Plaza brand group Hotel will not be licensed. However, even in these cases, the license remains for a specific site only and for the license of one hotel only.
This means that as a Crowne Plaza franchisee, you will not receive an exclusive territory and may face competition from other licensees, hotels owned by Holiday or its affiliates, or other channels of distribution or competitive brands controlled by Holiday or its affiliates. The franchisor retains the right to license other hotel brands in the area, potentially leading to competition among different brands within the Holiday portfolio.
