Crowne_Plaza Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

The Hotel you operate will be part of a distinctive system that is appropriate for your Hotel brand (the "Brand System"). The Brand System is designed to provide high quality hotel service to the public under a distinctive business format, and includes, among other things, the intellectual property (such as service marks, trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and other intellectual property) that Holiday designates; standards, specifications and policies for construction, furnishings, operation, appearance, and service of the Hotel; standards and specifications for interior and exterior design and décor, and other requirements (the "Standards"); access through Holiday to the technology systems, loyalty programs, sales and catering system and other related systems; access through Holiday to multiple call centers and central reservations offices around the world handling reservations; access through Holiday to brand marketing services and distribution marketing services including global advertising and publicity and other marketing programs and materials; training programs and materials; a guest loyalty program; and other elements. Holiday has the right to add to, modify, and delete elements of the Brand System.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Crowne Plaza FDD, Holiday has broad authority over the Brand System. The Brand System encompasses various elements crucial to maintaining uniformity and quality across all Crowne Plaza hotels. These elements include intellectual property like trademarks and copyrights, as well as the standards, specifications, and policies that govern the construction, furnishing, operation, appearance, and service of each hotel.

Holiday also controls the standards for both interior and exterior design and décor, ensuring a consistent brand image. Furthermore, Holiday provides franchisees with access to essential technology systems, loyalty programs, sales and catering systems, and multiple call centers and central reservation offices worldwide. Franchisees also benefit from Holiday's brand marketing and distribution marketing services, including global advertising, publicity, and other marketing materials.

Importantly, Holiday retains the right to modify the Brand System by adding, changing, or removing elements. This gives Holiday the flexibility to adapt the Crowne Plaza brand to changing market conditions, evolving consumer preferences, and new technological advancements. For a prospective franchisee, this means that while they must adhere to the established Brand System, they should also be prepared for potential changes and updates directed by Holiday.

This level of control is typical in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain brand consistency and protect the overall value of the brand. However, it also means that franchisees have limited autonomy in certain aspects of their business and must rely on Holiday's expertise and decisions to guide the brand's direction. Therefore, it is crucial for potential franchisees to understand and agree with Holiday's vision for the Crowne Plaza brand before investing in a franchise.
