What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crowne Plaza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Holiday has the right to approve all transfers of a Crowne Plaza franchise. The prospective new owner must submit an application and all required fees to keep the hotel within the Crowne Plaza brand system.
Holiday will then evaluate the new owner's application based on its current procedures and criteria. These criteria include factors such as the applicant's creditworthiness, operational abilities, market feasibility, and prior business dealings, as well as any other factors Holiday deems relevant. This evaluation process ensures that the new owner is capable of maintaining the standards and reputation of the Crowne Plaza brand.
If Holiday approves the new owner, several additional steps must be taken. Holiday will require the new owner to complete any necessary upgrades to the hotel, sign a license agreement using the then-current form of license, and execute a guaranty. Additionally, the franchisee must pay Holiday a non-refundable $25,000 processing fee at least 60 days before any public offering, private placement, or other sale of securities. These requirements ensure that the new owner is fully committed to the Crowne Plaza system and that Holiday is compensated for the administrative costs associated with the transfer.
