What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Crown Gold Exchange's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must implement marketing plans or campaigns determined by Crown Gold Franchising. While franchisees are responsible for developing a market introduction plan for Crown Gold Exchange's approval at least 30 days before opening, Crown Gold Franchising has broad authority over marketing.
Specifically, Crown Gold Exchange franchisees cannot conduct any marketing, advertising, or public relations activities without prior approval from Crown Gold Franchising. This includes in-store marketing materials, websites, online advertising, social media marketing, and sponsorships. Crown Gold Franchising also has the right to use any marketing materials developed by the franchisee.
The FDD does not specify a concrete advertising expense or budget. It indicates that franchisees must participate in customer evaluation and compliance programs at their own expense. The lack of a defined budget or spending limit for marketing and advertising activities means that Crown Gold Exchange franchisees could face unpredictable costs to comply with the franchisor's marketing requirements. A prospective franchisee should seek clarification regarding typical marketing expenses and the degree of control they have over these expenditures.
