What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Crown Gold Exchange's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees may be required to make renovations and changes to their business as a condition of entering into a successor agreement. Specifically, franchisees must make or agree to make renovations and changes to the business, including a remodel if applicable, to conform to the then-current System Standards. These renovations must be completed within a timeframe acceptable to Crown Gold Franchising.
This requirement means that a Crown Gold Exchange franchisee needs to be prepared for potential renovation costs when considering renewal. The scope and cost of these renovations will depend on the System Standards in place at the time of renewal, which may include updates to building design, exterior facade, trade dress, signage, fixtures, furnishings, equipment, decor, color schemes, and presentation of the Marks.
It is important to note that the new franchise agreement may also contain terms that are materially different from the original agreement, including potentially higher or different fees. However, the franchisee will not pay another initial franchise fee and will not receive more renewal or successor terms than described in the agreement. Franchisees should carefully review the then-current standard form of franchise agreement to understand all the obligations and costs associated with renewal.
