What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to the 2024 Crisp & Green Franchise Disclosure Document, the Addendum to the Franchise Agreement for the state of Illinois amends Section 18.07, titled "Jurisdiction and Venue."

Specifically, the addendum includes a statement clarifying that any provision in the franchise agreement that designates jurisdiction or venue in a forum outside of Illinois is void, referencing Section 4 of the Illinois Franchise Disclosure Act. This means that if a Crisp & Green franchisee in Illinois were to engage in litigation with the company, the legal proceedings would need to take place within Illinois, regardless of what the standard franchise agreement might otherwise stipulate.

This type of addendum is common in franchise agreements to ensure compliance with state-specific franchise laws, which often aim to protect franchisees by ensuring a fair legal process within their own state.
