What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to the 2024 Crisp & Green Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee has the sole and complete responsibility for acquiring, operating, maintaining, and upgrading their own cash register and Computer System. This includes ensuring the system properly interfaces with Crisp & Green's computer systems and those of third parties. The franchisee is also responsible for any consequences arising from improper operation, maintenance, or upgrades of the cash register and Computer System.

Crisp & Green franchisees must obtain and use the computer hardware and software that Crisp & Green specifies, including hardware components, dedicated telephone and power lines, modems, printers, and other computer-related accessories and peripheral equipment. All components of the Computer System must be provided by suppliers approved by Crisp & Green, and the POS and inventory system must be acquired from their designated supplier. The total cost of the Computer System ranges from $13,000 to $25,000, assuming the POS system is leased and digital menu boards are purchased. This cost is subject to change based on market conditions, product availability, and technological advancements.

Furthermore, Crisp & Green requires that the Computer System be set up to interface with their system, allowing them to poll daily receipts figures from headquarters at any time. While Crisp & Green may require computer hardware and software upgrades in the future, potentially as often as annually or bi-annually, the costs of incorporating these upgrades are the franchisee's financial obligation. The estimated annual cost of optional or required maintenance, updating, upgrading, or support contracts for the Computer System is $2,400 to $3,000. Franchisees must also make annual payments to a third-party vendor for Computer System maintenance, and any updates or upgrades required by the vendor are at the franchisee's expense. There is no limitation on the frequency or cost of these upgrades.

Crisp & Green also requires franchisees to license software for their POS system at a cost of $660 per month, payable to their designated vendor. Additionally, franchisees must obtain licenses for off-the-shelf software like Microsoft Office and accounting software, estimated to cost $40 to $80 per month. Franchisees are also responsible for ensuring their Computer System complies with all current Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements and must pay any costs associated with audits or compliance with these standards.
