Must a Crepe De Licious franchisee accept all credit cards and debit cards?

Crepe_De_Licious Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

In addition to offering and accepting Crepe de licious gift cards and loyalty cards, you must use any credit card vendors and accept all credit cards and debit cards that we determine. The term "credit card vendors" includes, among other things, companies that provide services for electronic payment, such as near field communication vendors (for example, "Apple Pay" and "Google Wallet"). We are not required to provide you with any ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades, updates, or support for the Computer System. You must arrange for installation, maintenance, and support of the Computer System at your cost. There are no limitations in the Franchise Agreement regarding the costs of such required support, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades relating to the Computer System. We cannot estimate the cost of maintaining, updating, or upgrading the Computer System or its components because it will depend on your repair history, costs of computer maintenance services in your area, and technological advances, which we cannot predict at this time. We may revise our specifications for the Computer System periodically. You must upgrade or replace your Computer System at such time as specifications are revised. There is no limitation on the frequency and cost of this obligation.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Crepe De Licious's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must use credit card vendors and accept all credit and debit cards that Crepe De Licious determines. The term "credit card vendors" includes companies that provide services for electronic payment, such as near field communication vendors (for example, "Apple Pay" and "Google Wallet").

This means that as a Crepe De Licious franchisee, you are obligated to accept the forms of payment that the franchisor mandates. This requirement is tied to the computer system and point-of-sale (POS) systems that franchisees are required to use. The cost for the computer system ranges from $2,550 to $4,500, depending on the number of point-of-sale systems purchased.

It is important to note that Crepe De Licious does not provide ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades, updates, or support for the computer system. The franchisee is responsible for these costs, and there are no limitations in the Franchise Agreement regarding the costs of such required support, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades relating to the Computer System. The franchisor may revise the specifications for the Computer System periodically, and the franchisee must upgrade or replace their Computer System at such time as specifications are revised, with no limitation on the frequency and cost of this obligation.
