What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 FDD, Cream has the right to deny requests for additional attendees at the Initial Training Program for any reason. Cream offers an initial training program for franchisees of Jeni's Ice Creams Scoop Shops. For the first shop a franchisee develops, Cream provides this training for up to three attendees, including the Mandatory Trainees (the Principal Owner and Shopkeeper), at no cost.
However, if a franchisee requests that more than three people attend the Initial Training Program for their first shop, Cream may approve those additional attendees but will charge a fee. The FDD states that the current fee is $1,000 per attendee, plus reimbursement of costs and expenses. Cream may also charge this fee if they provide any portion of the Initial Training Program more than once to accommodate the franchisee's attendees or if the Mandatory Trainees attend the Initial Training Program for a second or subsequent shop.
Importantly, Cream retains the discretion to deny a request for additional attendees, beyond the Mandatory Trainees, for any reason whatsoever. This gives Cream broad authority over who attends the training program, allowing them to control the quality and consistency of training across the franchise system. A prospective franchisee should be aware of this policy and factor it into their staffing and training plans.
