What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cream's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is required to spend a minimum of $20,000 on a grand opening advertising program for their Cream shop. This expenditure is in addition to any other advertising expenses outlined in the Franchise Agreement. It's important to note that the amount spent on the grand opening advertising does not count towards the Brand Fund Contribution.
Cream requires franchisees to submit a detailed plan for their grand opening marketing program for approval at least 75 days before the anticipated opening date. This ensures that the advertising aligns with Cream's brand standards and marketing strategies. The franchisee must also use any specific media, materials, programs, and strategies that Cream mandates for the grand opening advertising program.
This grand opening advertising requirement is a common practice in franchising, as a strong launch is crucial for establishing the brand in a new market. The $20,000 minimum ensures that franchisees invest adequately in creating awareness and attracting customers to their new Cream location. Franchisees should factor this cost into their initial investment and carefully plan their grand opening marketing strategy to maximize its impact.
