What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Crawlspace Medic Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee may be granted consideration for failing to meet the mandatory development schedule under specific circumstances. These circumstances include events such as a natural disaster, imposed government restrictions, or other uncontrollable acts of nature that significantly hinder the franchisee's ability to adhere to the schedule.
To be considered for an extension, the Crawlspace Medic franchisee must submit a written request to the franchisor at least 30 days before the deadline. This proactive approach allows the franchisor time to assess the situation and make an informed decision. The franchisor then has 10 days to respond in writing, indicating whether the extension request will be granted.
This policy provides a safety net for Crawlspace Medic franchisees facing unforeseen and uncontrollable challenges, ensuring they are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control. However, it's crucial for franchisees to adhere to the notification timeline and provide sufficient documentation to support their extension request. Failing to meet the development schedule without an approved extension can result in termination of the agreement, as outlined in Section 7.2.4 of the FDD.
