What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Crawlspace Medic Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee may be required to execute a general release of all claims against specific entities under certain conditions, such as renewing their franchise agreement. Specifically, when renewing the franchise agreement, the franchisee must release CSM Franchise Group, LLC, its parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates, along with their officers, directors, shareholders, agents, and employees in both their corporate and individual capacities. This release encompasses all claims arising under any federal, state, or local law, rule, or ordinance.
This requirement means that as a condition of renewing their Crawlspace Medic franchise, franchisees must waive their rights to pursue any legal claims against the specified parties. This could include claims related to the franchise agreement itself, business practices, or any other aspect of their relationship. The release is comprehensive, covering all types of legal claims under any law.
Prospective Crawlspace Medic franchisees should be aware of this condition and understand the implications of signing such a release. They may want to seek legal counsel to fully understand the scope of the release and ensure they are not giving up any valuable legal rights. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as franchisors often seek to avoid future legal disputes with franchisees, especially upon renewal or transfer of the franchise.
