What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Crawlspace Medic's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Crawlspace Medic is not obligated to modify, alter, or de-identify the Franchised Business upon the expiration or termination of the Franchise Agreement. However, Crawlspace Medic has the option to do so at their discretion.

If Crawlspace Medic chooses to modify, alter, or de-identify the Franchised Business, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing Crawlspace Medic for all associated costs and expenses. This could include expenses related to changing signage, removing branding elements, or any other steps taken to differentiate the business from the Crawlspace Medic brand.

This clause is fairly standard in franchise agreements. It protects the franchisor's brand and prevents former franchisees from continuing to operate a similar business under a confusingly similar name or appearance. For a prospective Crawlspace Medic franchisee, this means they need to be prepared to potentially incur costs at the end of their franchise term to remove all traces of the Crawlspace Medic brand from their business if Crawlspace Medic elects to take those steps.
