What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Crawlspace Medic Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must obtain a written agreement from their employees (referred to as "Covenantor") protecting the confidential information of the Crawlspace Medic system before disclosing any such information to them. This agreement aims to restrict the use, access, and dissemination of confidential information, safeguarding the system against unfair competition. The employee's access to confidential information is contingent upon signing this agreement.
The agreement ensures that employees maintain the confidentiality of the information and use it only in connection with operating the franchised business. Employees are prohibited from making copies of documents containing confidential information without the franchisor's express written permission. Disclosure is permitted only to the extent necessary for training and assisting employees in the operation of the franchised business.
This requirement is a standard practice in franchising to protect the franchisor's proprietary information and maintain a competitive advantage. By requiring a written agreement, Crawlspace Medic ensures that employees are legally bound to protect the confidentiality of the system's operational methods, trade secrets, and other sensitive information. Franchisees must ensure compliance with this requirement to avoid potential legal repercussions and to uphold the integrity of the Crawlspace Medic brand.
