We reserve the right to substitute different Marks if we can no longer use the current Marks, or if we determine that substitution of different Marks will be beneficial to the System. What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Crawlspace Medic's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for the expenses associated with changing marks if Crawlspace Medic requires a change. Crawlspace Medic retains the right to substitute different marks if the current marks are no longer usable or if a substitution is deemed beneficial to the franchise system.
In such instances, Crawlspace Medic may require franchisees to modify or discontinue the use of any mark, including the Principal Mark, or to adopt additional or substitute marks. The financial burden of these changes, including the costs of modifying signage, marketing materials, and other branded items, falls on the franchisee.
This stipulation means that a Crawlspace Medic franchisee needs to be prepared for potential expenses related to rebranding or updating their business's marks during the franchise term. While the franchisor's decision to change marks may be intended to benefit the system as a whole, the direct costs are borne by the individual franchisee. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as franchisees typically operate under the franchisor's brand and must comply with brand standards, even if it involves additional costs.
