What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Crawlspace Medic's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Crawlspace Medic can assign its rights under the Franchise Agreement without the franchisee's consent. Specifically, Crawlspace Medic retains the right to transfer its position as franchisor to another entity.
This means that a new franchisee could be working with a completely different company in the future if Crawlspace Medic decides to sell the franchise system. The new entity taking over the franchise agreement is not required to remain in the crawlspace or basement care business or to offer or sell any products or services to the franchisee.
This clause protects Crawlspace Medic's ability to grow and evolve its business, but it also introduces an element of uncertainty for franchisees. It is fairly common in franchising for the franchisor to retain the right to assign the agreement, as it allows for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic business changes. However, it is important for franchisees to understand that the support, systems, and overall relationship they have with the franchisor could change if the agreement is assigned.
