What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave Cookies' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to protect the confidentiality and security of all software systems used in their business. Additionally, franchisees must adhere to any System Standards related to these software systems. This obligation is outlined in Section 7.13 of the franchise agreement, emphasizing the importance Crave Cookies places on maintaining the integrity and security of its technological infrastructure across all franchise locations.
In practical terms, this means a Crave Cookies franchisee must take proactive measures to safeguard software systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. These measures could include implementing strong passwords, regularly updating software, using firewalls and antivirus software, and training employees on cybersecurity best practices. Franchisees must also comply with any specific security protocols or standards that Crave Cookies establishes in its System Standards, which could cover various aspects of technology use, such as point-of-sale systems, back-office systems, and data management.
The requirement to protect software systems is a standard practice in franchising, especially as businesses increasingly rely on technology for operations, customer service, and data management. By mandating these protections, Crave Cookies aims to ensure the security of sensitive business and customer information, maintain the reliability of its systems, and protect its brand reputation. Franchisees should carefully review the System Standards and seek clarification from Crave Cookies on any specific security requirements or best practices to ensure full compliance.
Failure to adequately protect the confidentiality and security of software systems could result in breaches, legal liabilities, and damage to the Crave Cookies brand. Therefore, franchisees must prioritize cybersecurity and data protection to meet their obligations under the franchise agreement and maintain the trust of their customers.
