What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave Cookies's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Crave Cookies has the authority to prescribe the menu items, beverages, and other products and services that a franchisee must offer. This is detailed in Article 7.4 of the franchise agreement, emphasizing Crave Cookies's control over the menu. Franchisees are required to offer all items that Crave Cookies prescribes in the manual or in writing.
This provision ensures uniformity across all Crave Cookies locations, maintaining brand consistency and customer expectations. It also allows Crave Cookies to adapt to changing consumer preferences or market trends by introducing new items or removing less popular ones. Franchisees must adhere to these changes to remain compliant with the franchise agreement.
Furthermore, Article 7.5 states that franchisees must follow all recipes prescribed by Crave Cookies, using only specified or authorized ingredients. Franchisees cannot substitute any recipe unless they receive express written permission from Crave Cookies. This reinforces Crave Cookies's control over product quality and consistency, ensuring that customers receive the same standard of product at any location. This also means that franchisees cannot introduce their own menu items or alter existing ones without prior approval from Crave Cookies.
In practical terms, a prospective Crave Cookies franchisee should understand that they have limited autonomy over the menu and product offerings. While this may limit their creativity, it also provides a proven system and brand recognition that can contribute to the success of their franchise. Franchisees should be prepared to implement any menu changes or recipe adjustments mandated by Crave Cookies to maintain compliance and uphold the brand's standards.
