What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee or any of their principals dies or claims permanent disability, Crave must be notified within ten days of the event. This notification responsibility falls on the franchisee or their representative.
Following the notification, the franchisee's interest in the franchise agreement must be transferred to a Crave-approved third party within six months from the date of death or permanent disability. Failure to complete this transfer within the specified timeframe constitutes a material default, potentially leading to the termination of the franchise agreement.
During the transfer period, an interim successor manager, satisfactory to Crave, must supervise the Crave outlet. Alternatively, Crave may, at its discretion, provide interim management, charging a fee equal to 10% of the gross sales generated by the outlet, in addition to covering all travel, lodging, meals, and other related expenses. This ensures the continued operation of the franchise during the transition.
