Under what condition must a Crave franchisee reimburse the franchisor's costs for additional on-site assistance?
Crave Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
For the opening of the Franchised Business, we will provide you with one of our representatives. The trained representative will provide on-site pre-opening and opening training, supervision, and assistance to you for up to two days around your Franchised Business' opening. If you request that our representative provide additional days of on-site assistance, you must reimburse the expenses our representative incurs while providing the additional assistance, including travel, lodging and meals and you
must pay our then-current per diem fee. If you are opening your second (or later) Franchised Business, we have the right to reduce the duration of our representative's visit or to not provide opening assistance.
If, during the term of your Franchise Agreement, you request that we provide additional training or assistance on-site at your Franchised Business or if we determine that additional training or assistance is necessary, you must pay our then-current per diem fee for each trainer we provide, and you must reimburse us for any expenses our trainers incur, such as costs of travel, lodging, and meals.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must reimburse Crave for expenses related to additional on-site assistance under two primary circumstances. First, if the franchisee requests that a Crave representative provide on-site assistance for more than the initial two days around the opening of their franchised business, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing the representative's expenses. These expenses include travel, lodging, and meals, as well as Crave's then-current per diem fee.
Second, during the term of the Franchise Agreement, if the franchisee requests additional training or assistance on-site, or if Crave determines that such assistance is necessary, the franchisee must cover the costs. This includes paying Crave's per diem fee for each trainer provided and reimbursing expenses like travel, lodging, and meals incurred by the trainers.
These stipulations mean that while Crave provides initial support, any extended or additional help comes at the franchisee's expense. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as it ensures that franchisees who require more support bear the direct costs, while those who operate more independently are not penalized. Prospective franchisees should factor these potential costs into their financial planning and understand the conditions under which they might need to request and pay for additional assistance from Crave.
