What standards and criteria does Crave use to determine if a potential municipality meets the requirements for a Crave Food Truck?
Crave Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
You must obtain our approval of the municipality in which your Food Truck will operate before you may begin operations. You must submit to us, for our review, all the information we require regarding the municipality you propose for your Food Truck no later than 90 days after you have signed the Franchise Agreement. We will have 30 days after we receive all required information and materials from you to
approve or decline the proposed municipality for the operation of your Food Truck. If we do not provide our specific approval of a proposed municipality, then it is deemed not approved. Our criteria for approving municipalities include: the number and size of shopping centers, malls, business parks or business districts, parks and open public spaces; availability of parking or standing on main roads; other food truck businesses in the immediate area; and population base and median income of the population. We will use these and other factors in determining the suitability of your proposed municipality for a Crave Food Truck.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the brand has specific criteria for approving municipalities for Food Truck operations. Before a franchisee can begin operations, Crave must approve the municipality. The franchisee is required to submit all necessary information about the proposed municipality to Crave for review within 90 days of signing the Franchise Agreement. Crave then has 30 days to either approve or decline the proposed municipality. If Crave does not provide specific approval, the municipality is considered not approved.
The criteria Crave uses to evaluate a municipality's suitability include factors such as the number and size of shopping centers, malls, business parks, and business districts. They also consider the availability of parking or standing on main roads, the presence of other food truck businesses in the immediate area, and the population base and median income of the population. Crave states that it will use these factors, along with others, to determine if the proposed municipality is suitable for a Crave Food Truck.
This process is important for prospective franchisees because it ensures that the location has the potential to support a successful Crave Food Truck business. The franchisee bears the risk of finding an appropriate location within the specified timeframe. If a suitable municipality cannot be found within 90 days, Crave may either grant an extension or terminate the Franchise Agreement. This highlights the importance of thorough market research and due diligence before signing the Franchise Agreement to ensure a suitable location can be secured.
