What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for covering all expenses incurred by their trainees during refresher training. While Crave does not anticipate charging a fee for the refresher training itself, the franchisee must pay for travel, lodging, meals, and wages for their trainees. This policy ensures that Crave franchisees bear the financial responsibility for keeping their staff up-to-date on any operational changes or new procedures implemented within the Crave system.
This requirement is fairly standard in the franchise industry, as it aligns the cost of ongoing training with the individual franchisee's business. By making the franchisee responsible for these costs, Crave ensures that franchisees carefully consider who they send to refresher training and that they are committed to investing in their employees' development. This also allows Crave to offer the training without directly increasing franchise fees or other system-wide costs.
Prospective Crave franchisees should factor these potential refresher training expenses into their operating budget. The frequency and location of refresher training programs can vary, so it is important to communicate with Crave to understand how often these trainings are typically held and where they are located to estimate potential travel and lodging costs. Understanding these costs upfront will help franchisees better manage their finances and ensure they can adequately support their staff's ongoing training needs.
