How many people does Crave's initial training program cover?

Crave Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Training: No later than 30 days before the date the Restaurant or Food Trucks is scheduled to begin operation, two trainees must have completed, to our satisfaction, our mandatory initial training program. We will conduct this training at our corporate headquarters, at an affiliate's Crave business, or at another location we designate. Your trainees must include you or your general manager. Our initial training program lasts for approximately one week. Initial training programs will be offered at various times during the year depending on the number of new franchisees entering the System, replacement general managers and other personnel needing training, the number of new Restaurants and Food Trucks being opened and the timing of the scheduled openings of Restaurants and Food Trucks.

We will provide instructors and training materials for two trainees (the cost of which is included in the initial franchise fee). You may also have additional personnel trained by us for the Franchised Business, at your expense. We will determine whether your trainees have satisfactorily completed initial training. If you or your general manager do not satisfactorily complete the initial training program or if we determine that these persons cannot satisfactorily complete the training program, you must designate a replacement to satisfactorily complete the training before you will be permitted to open your Franchised Business. If the replacement general manager cannot complete the initial training program to our satisfaction, we have the right to terminate your Franchise Agreement.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training program is designed for two trainees. This mandatory training must be completed to Crave's satisfaction no later than 30 days before the restaurant or food truck is scheduled to open. Typically, the franchisee or the general manager are the trainees. Crave provides the instructors and training materials for these two trainees, with the cost included in the initial franchise fee.

Additional personnel can be trained by Crave for the franchised business, but this would be at the franchisee's expense. Crave retains the authority to determine if trainees have satisfactorily completed the initial training. If the franchisee or general manager fails to complete the training satisfactorily, a replacement must be designated and successfully complete the program before the franchised business can open. Failure of a replacement general manager to complete the training to Crave's satisfaction can result in the termination of the Franchise Agreement.

Any manager subsequently designated by the franchisee must also complete the initial training program to Crave's satisfaction. This may require sending the manager to Crave's headquarters training program at the franchisee's expense. Crave has the right to charge a reasonable fee for the initial training provided to a replacement or successor employee if the franchisee has not been approved to provide the training. The franchisee is also responsible for all expenses incurred by trainees for any training program, including travel, lodging, meals, and applicable wages. Crave may approve a franchisee to train replacement managers under their training program before permitting them to train their entire staff for a third or later franchised business opening, but personnel training is not allowed until the franchisee is approved as a trainer.
