When does a Crave franchisee sign the Franchise Agreement for the first Franchised Business under the Multi-Unit Development Agreement?

Crave Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You will sign the Franchise Agreement for the first Franchised Business to be developed under the Multi-Unit Development Agreement at the same time you sign the Multi-Unit Development Agreement. For each additional Crave franchise developed under the Multi-Unit Development Agreement, you must sign the form of Franchise Agreement that we are then offering to new franchisees, which may differ from the current Franchise Agreement included in this Disclosure Document.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee entering into a Multi-Unit Development Agreement will sign the Franchise Agreement for their first Crave Franchised Business at the same time they sign the Multi-Unit Development Agreement. This means that the franchisee commits to the first location concurrently with agreeing to develop multiple units within a specific geographic area.

This simultaneous signing is a key aspect of the Multi-Unit Development Agreement. It ensures that Crave and the franchisee are aligned from the outset regarding the development plan and the operation of the initial franchise. This contrasts with signing a franchise agreement at a later date, which could potentially lead to delays or changes in the development schedule.

For prospective Crave franchisees considering a multi-unit development, this requirement highlights the importance of being prepared to launch the first location promptly. Franchisees should have their business plan, financing, and site selection strategy well in place before signing the Multi-Unit Development Agreement. This up-front commitment is typical in multi-unit franchising, as it demonstrates the franchisee's seriousness and capability to manage multiple locations.

It's also important to note that for each additional Crave franchise developed under the Multi-Unit Development Agreement, the franchisee must sign the form of Franchise Agreement that Crave is then offering to new franchisees. This subsequent agreement may differ from the initial Franchise Agreement included in the Disclosure Document, so franchisees need to stay informed about any updates or changes to the franchise terms as they expand their operations.
