What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must purchase or lease their food truck from Master Chef Mobile Kitchens, located in Hicksville, New York. This is Crave's designated supplier for food trucks.
This requirement ensures uniformity and quality control across all Crave food trucks. By mandating a specific supplier, Crave aims to maintain consistent standards for equipment, layout, and branding. This can benefit franchisees by providing a pre-approved, fully outfitted food truck that meets all of Crave's specifications, potentially streamlining the setup process.
However, franchisees should be aware that they do not have the option to choose an alternative supplier for the food truck without Crave's approval. While the FDD mentions the possibility of requesting approval for other suppliers, Crave is not obligated to grant such requests if they believe it is not in the best interest of the Crave system. Franchisees should also note that if they choose to finance the food truck through the designated supplier, Crave will not review or approve the purchase contract. A down payment of 10% to 40% is required before the buildout of the food truck begins, with the specific percentage determined by the supplier based on the franchisee's credit history.
It is also important to note that Crave's officers do not have any ownership interest in Master Chef Mobile Kitchens. This suggests that the supplier designation is based on the supplier's ability to meet Crave's standards rather than any potential conflict of interest.
