What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Crave's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Crave Express Restaurants are typically located inside participating Walmart stores. These locations require approximately 500 to 1,500 square feet of space.
This is a different model from the standard Crave Restaurants, which are usually found in shopping malls, strip centers, or as free-standing locations. These traditional restaurants need more space, around 1,800 to 3,500 square feet. The Express model offers a smaller footprint and a built-in customer base by leveraging the traffic of Walmart stores.
If a franchisee chooses to open a Crave Express Restaurant, they will enter into a Commercial Sub-Lease Agreement with Crave WM Franchising LLC, which is an affiliate of Crave. This means the franchisee will be leasing the space from Crave's affiliate rather than directly from Walmart. This sublease arrangement is a key aspect of the Express model and something potential franchisees should carefully review.
It's important to note that while standard Crave Restaurants may offer beer and wine (if permitted by local ordinances) and axe throwing lanes (if the outlet is at least 3,000 square feet), Crave Express Restaurants do not offer these options. This difference in offerings reflects the smaller size and different customer base of the Express locations.
