What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Craters & Freighters Franchise Disclosure Document, Craters & Freighters acknowledges that they cannot estimate the cost of maintaining, updating, or upgrading a franchisee's computer system or software. The FDD states that these costs will depend on the franchisee's repair history, the local cost of computer maintenance services, and technological advances, which Craters & Freighters cannot predict. However, the agreement stipulates that the aggregate cost for upgrades, additions, and replacements to the computer system will not exceed $5,000 per year during the term of the agreement.
As a Craters & Freighters franchisee, you are responsible for maintaining your computer system and software in good repair at your own expense. You must also purchase any additional software, hardware, dedicated telephone and power lines, and other computer-related accessories as required by Craters & Freighters. Additionally, franchisees must obtain high-speed communication access for their computer systems.
Franchisees must also protect themselves from computer viruses, bugs, power disruptions, communication line disruptions, internet access failures, date-related problems, and attacks by hackers and other unauthorized intruders by purchasing firewalls, access code protection, anti-virus systems, and using backup systems. Franchisees must also maintain the email accounts established by Craters & Freighters for the franchised business.
