What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Craters & Freighters Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial term of the franchise agreement is defined in Section 1.1, which discusses the grant of the franchise. Subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the agreement, Craters & Freighters grants the franchisee a non-exclusive license to operate a franchised business at a specific location using the Craters & Freighters system and marks. This license is valid for the Initial Term of the Agreement.

During this initial term and any subsequent renewal terms, Craters & Freighters and its affiliates agree not to own, operate, or franchise another fixed location for a Craters & Freighters business within the franchisee's designated territory. The term "Affiliate" refers to any entity controlled by, controlling, or under common control with Craters & Freighters or the franchisee.

Understanding the initial term length is crucial for prospective franchisees as it dictates the period during which they can operate under the Craters & Freighters brand and system. It also defines the duration of the franchisor's commitment to not establishing competing locations within the franchisee's territory. Franchisees should carefully consider the length of the initial term in relation to their investment and business plans, as well as the conditions for renewal or termination of the agreement.
