What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Craters & Freighters FDD, the first step Craters & Freighters will take to assist a new franchisee is to designate the territory for their franchise. This is a crucial initial step as it defines the geographic area within which the franchisee will operate and have certain rights, as detailed in Section 1.2 of the Franchise Agreement.
Following the designation of the territory, Craters & Freighters will then use reasonable efforts to assist the franchisee in locating a suitable site for their Franchised Business. However, the FDD specifies that Craters & Freighters does not typically own or lease the premises to franchisees. This means the franchisee will likely be responsible for securing their own location, although Craters & Freighters will provide assistance in finding a suitable one, as described in Section 4.1 of the Franchise Agreement.
These initial steps are vital for setting up the franchisee for success. Designating the territory provides clarity on the market area, while assistance with site selection helps in establishing a physical presence. However, franchisees should be aware that the ultimate responsibility for securing and developing the premises rests with them, including all associated costs and legal compliance.
