What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Craters & Freighters's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase an accounting software program such as QuickBooks Pro, along with data processing software like Microsoft Office suite products. This software is intended to be used alongside Craters & Freighters's Proprietary Software. The Proprietary Software is designed to assist with customer relationship management, the quoting process, job flow, custom container design, calendaring, reporting, and transportation management.

In addition to the accounting software, franchisees are responsible for procuring and maintaining all necessary hardware, software upgrades, internet connectivity, dedicated phone and power lines, and other related accessories and equipment. Maintaining a high-speed internet connection for the computer system is also a requirement. Craters & Freighters also requires franchisees to maintain and use the email addresses assigned to them by the company for all communications within the Craters & Freighters system and with the public.

The estimated initial cost for these computer-related items ranges from $2,000 to $4,000, but Craters & Freighters notes that these costs are subject to change due to technological advancements. Franchisees are also responsible for the ongoing maintenance and repair of their computer systems and software. While the cost of maintaining, updating, or upgrading the computer system is difficult to predict, Craters & Freighters estimates these costs to range from $1,000 to $2,000 per year. The FDD also states that the aggregate cost of upgrades, component additions, and component replacements will not exceed $5,000 per year during the term of the Franchise Agreement.

It is important for prospective Craters & Freighters franchisees to factor these technology costs into their initial investment and ongoing operating expenses. They should also be prepared to adapt to changing technology requirements and budget accordingly for potential upgrades and maintenance. While Craters & Freighters provides initial software, the franchisee bears the responsibility for ensuring their computer systems and software remain current and functional throughout the term of the franchise agreement.
