What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Crab N Spice's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, pre-opening obligations include site selection assistance where Crab N Spice will review and advise on potential locations submitted by the franchisee. Crab N Spice will provide standard building plans, specifications, and decor specifications. They will also provide suggested staffing levels and guidelines for hiring and training employees, along with operational instructions in the manual.
Crab N Spice will provide a list of specifications and approved suppliers for necessary equipment, signs, fixtures, opening inventory, and supplies, but franchisees must purchase these items from approved suppliers themselves. Franchisees also gain access to the operating manual and participate in an initial training program. Crab N Spice will advise on the planning and execution of the franchisee's market introduction plan and provide on-site support for at least 7 days during the business opening.
The initial training program does not have a fee for up to 2 people to attend, but the franchisee is responsible for travel and living expenses. The franchisee and a manager must attend the training, which must be completed to Crab N Spice's satisfaction at least four weeks before opening the business. The typical time between signing the franchise agreement and opening the business is 6-8 months, but this can vary based on factors like obtaining a lease, financing, permits, and hiring employees.
