What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to the 2024 Crab N Spice Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee develops or conceives any ideas, plans, improvements, concepts, methods, or techniques related to the Crab N Spice business, these "Innovations" automatically become the property of CNS Franchising.

The FDD explicitly states that CNS Franchising has the right to use and incorporate any franchisee-developed Innovations into the Crab N Spice system without providing any compensation to the franchisee. This means that while a franchisee's creative contributions may benefit the entire Crab N Spice franchise system, they will not receive any direct financial reward or other consideration for those contributions.

This is a fairly standard clause in many franchise agreements. It allows the franchisor to maintain consistency and control over the brand and system, and to leverage successful ideas across the entire franchise network. However, it also means that franchisees need to be aware that any improvements they develop for their Crab N Spice business become the property of the franchisor, without compensation.
