What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Counselor Realty's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for training fees. The FDD does not explicitly state any circumstances under which Counselor Realty would waive these training fees. The franchisee must pay $175 per trainer per hour for initial and supplemental training, plus cover all travel, living, and incidental expenses for themselves, their employees, and Counselor Realty's trainers. These expenses could range from $0 to $750 per person per day, depending on travel needs and vendor selection.
Given the lack of explicit waivers mentioned in the FDD, it is unlikely that Counselor Realty routinely waives training fees. The document emphasizes the franchisee's responsibility for these costs. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as training is considered a crucial component of ensuring consistent brand standards and operational procedures across all franchise locations.
A prospective franchisee should clarify with Counselor Realty's franchise development team whether there might be any limited situations where training fees could be reduced or waived, such as for franchisees with extensive prior experience or under special promotional offers. Understanding the full scope of potential training costs is essential for accurate financial planning.
