What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Counselor Realty's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the training materials include 3 pages dedicated to advertising. This is part of the Counselor Franchise Policy Guidelines. The FDD also mentions that Counselor Realty conducts various marketing activities, including research, creative work, media purchasing, tracking, public relations, promotions, and advertising.
Prospective franchisees should note that they can develop their own advertising materials, but these must conform to Counselor Realty's brand standards. Counselor Realty retains the right to review and approve any advertising materials, and franchisees may be required to alter or remove materials that do not meet these standards. Franchisees also have the option to develop their own website as part of their promotion strategy, which must also adhere to Counselor Realty's brand standards.
In addition to the training materials, franchisees may need to participate in Counselor System advertising programs. If the franchise is located within the 11-county metropolitan area of the Twin Cities, they must pay an Advertising Fee of $60 per agent per month. Outside the Twin Cities, franchisees must be members of the Regional Advertising Group and pay an Advertising Fee of $25 per agent per month to the Regional Advertising Fund. These fees contribute towards the general costs of marketing activities conducted by Counselor Realty or the Regional Advertising Group.
