After Counselor Realty consents to a site, how long do I have to open my Counselor Realty business at that site?
Counselor_Realty Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
After we consent to an Office site you propose (if at all), you must open your Business at that site within six months. If you fail to do so, this Agreement will automatically terminate and your Initial Franchise Fee will not be refunded. We may, in our sole discretion, grant extensions of the deadlines described above. Our consent to a site is not a guarantee or assurance as to the availability, suitability or prospects of an Office or Business.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Counselor Realty's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, once Counselor Realty approves a site for your office, you have six months to open your business at that location. Failing to open within this timeframe can lead to the termination of the Franchise Agreement, and you will not receive a refund of your initial franchise fee. However, Counselor Realty may, at its discretion, grant extensions to this deadline.
This six-month period is a critical window for a new Counselor Realty franchisee. It encompasses securing the location, completing any necessary build-out or renovations, hiring staff, and preparing for the grand opening. The franchisee should factor in potential delays in construction, permitting, or equipment delivery when planning their launch timeline.
It is important to note that Counselor Realty's consent to a site does not guarantee its suitability or prospects for success. The franchisee bears the responsibility for conducting thorough due diligence to ensure the chosen location meets their business needs and market conditions. Requesting an extension from Counselor Realty, while possible, should not be relied upon, and franchisees should strive to meet the initial six-month deadline to avoid potential termination of the agreement and loss of the initial franchise fee.
