What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Cordova's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to participate in warranty insurance programs that Cordova designates. This requirement is tied to Cordova's policy on customer service and refunds. Cordova mandates that franchisees guarantee their services to clients. If Cordova determines a client is entitled to reimbursement due to dissatisfaction with the franchisee's services or products, Cordova may directly reimburse the client. In such cases, the franchisee is then obligated to reimburse Cordova for the amount paid to the client.

This policy has several implications for prospective Cordova franchisees. First, it emphasizes the importance of maintaining high service quality to minimize customer complaints and potential reimbursements. Second, franchisees must be prepared to handle customer service issues promptly and effectively, as Cordova retains the authority to intervene and issue refunds. Finally, the requirement to participate in warranty insurance programs suggests that franchisees may incur additional costs associated with these programs, although the specific details of these programs (such as cost and coverage) are not detailed in this section.

It is important for prospective franchisees to fully understand the terms and conditions of these warranty insurance programs, including the costs involved and the extent of coverage provided. Franchisees should also clarify the criteria Cordova uses to determine whether a client is entitled to a refund, as well as the process for resolving disputes between the franchisee and Cordova regarding reimbursement decisions. Understanding these aspects will help franchisees better manage their customer service obligations and financial responsibilities under the franchise agreement.
