What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Cordova FDD, Cordova does not currently require any contribution to a Brand Development Fund. However, Cordova retains the right to establish such a fund in the future. If a Brand Development Fund is established, Cordova may use it for various purposes, including market studies, research, advertising, and administrative costs.
Cordova may also establish local or regional advertising cooperatives. If a cooperative is established in a market that includes a franchisee's Cordova Business, the franchisee must contribute to the cooperative in amounts and frequency determined by the cooperative. The members of the cooperative will administer it, determining contribution amounts and marketing expenditures. Cordova may require cooperative decisions to be based on a simple majority vote of franchisee members, with a quorum of at least 25% of the designated franchisee cooperative members.
Franchisees are not required to contribute to a local or regional advertising cooperative in amounts exceeding the local marketing requirements. Cordova reserves the right to form, change, dissolve, or merge any advertising cooperative. If a cooperative already exists in the area of a franchisee's Cordova Business, the franchisee will be required to participate in the cooperative according to the operations manual.
