What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cool Binz's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Computer System that franchisees may be required to use includes several components. These include a compatible "back office" computer system meeting Cool Binz's standards, a custom Point of Sale (POS) system if Cool Binz makes it part of their operating system, printers and other peripheral hardware, archival back-up systems, a specified Internet access mode and speed, and physical, electronic, and other security systems. Currently, the Computer System must include a DSL or cable modem high-speed Internet connection at the Office Site, along with a computer meeting the System Standards for handling Cool Binz Software or other Required Software. The estimated cost for this computer system ranges from $3,000 to $5,000. Computer specifications for hardware and Internet connectivity are detailed in Sections 2.H and 2.I of the Franchise Agreement.
Cool Binz may also require franchisees to use designated software for business management, and the then-current designated accounting software, which is currently QuickBooks Online, but is subject to change. Franchisees are also required to follow Cool Binz's specified chart of accounts. Cool Binz retains the right to change these requirements at their discretion. Franchisees must also subscribe to, maintain, and utilize a fiber-optic, cable, or satellite high-speed Internet connection and email network account with independent suppliers approved by Cool Binz.
Cool Binz also states that as technology advances, franchisees may be required to upgrade their hardware to meet changing software requirements. Cool Binz Software is web-based, and while they do not currently charge for software updates and upgrades, they may require franchisees to upgrade their computer hardware, software, and web-based applications at the franchisee's expense. There is no limit on the frequency of these required upgrades or the cost to franchisees, although Cool Binz does not anticipate the cost of such upgrades to exceed $5,000 annually. Cool Binz also retains the right to electronically connect with the franchisee's Computer System to monitor or retrieve data at any time without notice.
