What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Wide's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have explicit obligations to adhere to all relevant laws and regulations in the operation of their franchised business. City Wide mandates that franchisees secure and maintain all necessary licenses, permits, and certifications required to legally operate their business. Furthermore, franchisees must conduct their business in full compliance with all applicable ordinances and regulations. These include, but are not limited to, laws and regulations pertaining to occupational hazards and health, EEOC laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, copyright laws protecting owners of musical works, consumer protection, trade regulations, workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, and the withholding and payment of federal and state income taxes, social security taxes, and sales, use, and property taxes.
To ensure compliance, City Wide requires franchisees to furnish proof of payment for certain taxes. Specifically, franchisees must provide City Wide with a copy of the receipt for the payment of all use taxes, personal property taxes, and similar taxes or assessments applicable to equipment, within 120 days after receiving the equipment. This requirement ensures that franchisees are meeting their tax obligations related to the assets used in their business operations.
Failure to comply with these legal and regulatory obligations can have significant consequences for a City Wide franchisee. Non-compliance could lead to legal penalties, fines, or even the suspension or revocation of necessary licenses and permits. Additionally, failure to meet these obligations constitutes a breach of the franchise agreement, potentially leading to termination of the agreement by City Wide. Therefore, it is crucial for prospective franchisees to understand and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations to maintain a successful and compliant business operation.
