What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Wide's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for purchasing the fixtures, equipment, signs, furnishings, and other components and accessories for their franchised business. These purchases are made at the franchisee's expense and are to be used in conducting the franchised business at the specified location. The specifications for these items will be outlined in City Wide's Operating Manual.
City Wide may provide franchisees with a list of established sources for equipment and supplies necessary for operating the franchised business. This list is intended to assist franchisees in sourcing the required items, but the ultimate responsibility for purchasing these items and bearing the associated costs lies with the franchisee. Franchisees are also responsible for maintaining the condition and appearance of their office, including replacing worn or obsolete fixtures and signs, and repairing the location to meet City Wide's standards, as detailed in the Operating Manual.
City Wide also maintains a list of approved manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors, as well as a list of approved inventory, products, fixtures, furniture, equipment, signs, stationery, supplies, and other items or services necessary to operate the franchised business. While franchisees are generally free to choose from this list, City Wide may designate certain suppliers as 'Required Suppliers,' from whom franchisees must purchase specific items or services, such as ADP Payroll Services. If a franchisee wishes to use equipment or products not already approved by City Wide, they must first notify City Wide and submit samples and information for approval, potentially incurring inspection and testing costs.
If the franchisee fails to maintain the appearance or condition of the premises, equipment, fixtures, or signs according to City Wide's standards, City Wide can notify the franchisee and specify the necessary corrective actions. Should the franchisee fail to initiate and implement a program to address these deficiencies within thirty days, City Wide reserves the right to enter the premises and perform the required maintenance or replacements on the franchisee's behalf, with the franchisee responsible for repaying the entire costs on demand. Failure to make such payments or remedy operational deficiencies can result in a material breach of the franchise agreement and potential termination.
