What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Wide's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase all computer hardware directly from City Wide. This is explicitly stated in Item 7, which outlines the estimated initial investment for starting a City Wide franchise. The cost for this hardware is estimated to range from $7,000 to $10,500, payable before opening, as detailed in the provided table.
City Wide will load all the necessary software and related licensing required to meet the brand's technology specifications. This ensures that all franchisees operate on a standardized technology platform, which likely aids in support, updates, and overall system compatibility. While franchisees must purchase the hardware from City Wide, they should be aware that the costs may increase if they decide to purchase additional equipment or software beyond the standard package.
In addition to the hardware costs, franchisees will incur ongoing expenses for IT support services. City Wide provides desktop monitoring, troubleshooting assistance, software updates, and technology support for the first 36 months of operation. This service is priced at $120 per user per month. Furthermore, franchisees will also be responsible for technology development fees, which cover the proprietary software programs essential for running the franchised business, and IT project development fees for specific IT projects requiring a separate budget, such as the City View work order management system.
This requirement to purchase hardware from City Wide, coupled with ongoing IT support and development fees, highlights the importance of technology in the City Wide franchise model. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider these costs and the ongoing technology-related obligations when evaluating the overall investment and operational requirements of a City Wide franchise.
