What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Wide's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must complete all required maintenance, refurbishing, renovating, remodeling, and equipment upgrades no later than 30 days after the expiration of their respective term. This requirement is triggered after City Wide inspects the franchised business and equipment at least 90 days before the term expires and subsequently notifies the franchisee of any necessary actions. The franchisee is responsible for covering all expenses associated with these upgrades and maintenance to City Wide's satisfaction.
This stipulation is tied to the franchise agreement's term, which consists of an initial term and potentially two five-year successor terms. The timing of the required upgrades is specifically linked to the end of each term, ensuring that the City Wide franchise maintains its standards as the agreement is renewed. This requirement ensures that franchisees keep their locations and equipment up to date, which can help maintain the brand's image and service quality.
However, outside of the renewal process, City Wide also retains the right to inspect the premises of the franchised business at any time. If the general state of repair or appearance does not meet City Wide's standards, the franchisee will be notified and required to take corrective action. In this case, the franchisee must initiate action within 30 calendar days of receiving notice and continue to implement a program to complete the required maintenance. Failure to do so allows City Wide to undertake the repairs on the franchisee's behalf, with the franchisee responsible for reimbursing all costs upon demand. This ongoing maintenance requirement ensures consistent brand standards throughout the franchise network.
