What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Publications' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, advertising is addressed in Section 11 of the franchise agreement, as indicated in Item 11, subsection O. This section is further detailed within Item 6 and Item 11 of the disclosure document.
Specifically, Item 11C discusses advertising and promotion. City Publications does not currently have a mandatory advertising program requiring franchisee contributions. However, City Publications may choose to implement cooperative advertising programs in the future, allowing franchisees to collaborate on advertising efforts within their territories. Participation in these cooperative programs would be optional, with each franchise agreement holding one vote. Any company-owned or affiliated outlets would also be members and required to contribute equally.
City Publications maintains a website, www.citypublication.com, to provide information about the City Publications system. Additionally, City Publications will establish a website for each franchise with a link to the main website, but the franchisee is responsible for maintaining their individual site. City Publications retains the sole right to market on the Internet, including website use, domain names, URLs, meta-tags, marketing, auction sites, e-commerce, and co-branding arrangements. Franchisees may be required to provide content for City Publications' internet marketing and must adhere to their intranet and internet usage rules. Furthermore, franchisees must obtain consent from City Publications before establishing an internet presence or marketing online for the franchised business, and City Publications may require that any independent website be accessed through their homepage.
