What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Publications' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if the franchisee is a corporation, limited liability company, or partnership, its Designated Manager must attend the initial training program. In addition to the Designated Manager, one assistant may also attend the initial training. The Designated Manager must successfully complete the initial training program to City Publications' satisfaction before the Franchised Business opens.
The initial training program consists of approximately 40 hours, including 2-3 days of virtual classroom sessions and 2-3 days of on-the-job instruction. The training covers various aspects of operating the Franchised Business, such as administrative, operational, and sales/marketing matters. City Publications conducts the initial training program virtually, at its headquarters, or at another designated location.
City Publications does not charge tuition or similar fees for the initial training. However, the franchisee is responsible for all expenses incurred during the initial training, such as travel costs, room and board expenses, and employees' salaries. Franchisees must also ensure that their new sales employees complete eight hours of virtual training, certified by City Publications, before engaging in any sales activities. If a new Designated Manager is appointed after operations begin, they must complete the initial training program within 60 days at the franchisee's expense.
