What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 City Publications FDD, a franchisee's sole recourse for printing defects is limited to the extent of the warranty provided by the printer of the card decks. City Publications itself assumes no further liability for such defects.
This means that if there are issues with the printed materials, such as errors, poor print quality, or incorrect card stock, the franchisee's claim is against the printer, not directly against City Publications. The extent of the remedy available to the franchisee depends entirely on the terms of the printer's warranty, which City Publications will extend to the franchisee.
This arrangement places the onus on the franchisee to understand the specifics of the printer's warranty and to pursue any claims directly with the printer. It also limits City Publications' liability, potentially shielding them from direct responsibility for printing errors or defects. Prospective franchisees should carefully review the printer's warranty to understand the scope of coverage and the process for making claims. They may also want to inquire about the printer's reputation for quality and reliability before investing in a City Publications franchise.
