What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Publications' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase a smartphone for use in their franchised business. The franchisee must ensure the phone is on at all times.
This requirement ensures that franchisees can readily communicate with customers, the franchisor, and any approved suppliers. It also allows franchisees to utilize any mobile applications or technologies that City Publications may implement for business operations, marketing, or customer service.
This requirement is fairly common in franchising, as many franchisors require specific technology to maintain brand standards and facilitate communication. The FDD does not specify the type of smartphone required, so a prospective franchisee should confirm with City Publications what phone models are acceptable and whether there are any specific software or data plan requirements.
