What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to City Publications' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to specific email marketing requirements. City Publications franchisees are required to use the domain name provided by the franchisor for all email and electronic communications. All advertising materials sent to advertisers and prospects via email must be approved by City Publications.
Franchisees may receive email addresses of residents within their exclusive territory, but these lists remain the property of City Publications. Franchisees cannot use these lists without express approval from City Publications. The franchisor has the right to manage email communications to these residents on behalf of the franchisee, with the franchisee compensating City Publications for these services according to their fee arrangements.
These stipulations ensure that all email marketing efforts align with City Publications' brand standards and marketing strategies. A prospective franchisee should be aware that they do not have full control over email marketing campaigns and must work within the guidelines set by City Publications. This includes obtaining approval for email content and potentially relinquishing control over email lists to the franchisor.
