What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to City Publications' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee depends on whether the franchisee is new to the City Publications system or an existing franchisee adding a new product. For new franchisees, the initial franchise fee is $29,000. This fee grants the franchisee the right to operate a print advertising franchise model featuring a booklet of advertisements, as opposed to the traditional card deck model. This new product offering is designed to reach smaller towns and territories.

For existing City Publications franchisees, there is no additional franchise fee or franchise agreement required to offer the booklet product within their current territory. This provides an opportunity for existing franchisees to expand their service offerings without incurring additional upfront costs. The initial franchise fee covers several key components, including access to proprietary materials, an initial supply of sales materials, a designated website with a link to the City Publications website, and exclusive rights to distribute card decks and other approved products within the franchisee's territory.

The franchise fee also includes the City Publications Quick Start Program, which provides information, activities, and materials to help franchisees begin operations. Additionally, the fee covers an initial training program and materials, as well as on-site sales training and assistance. The franchisor also uses the franchise fee to cover general sales and marketing expenses, legal, accounting, and other professional fees. The franchise fee is deemed fully earned upon payment and is nonrefundable.
